“Isn’t it often true that the eyes of the Arab woman is the first open door to her heart”? muses Christian Louboutin of his eye makeup category— an all-new addition to his burgeoning beauty empire. The famed shoe designer, who ventured into cosmetics three years ago by way of a stunning lineup of stiletto-like nail polishes, is launching a range of mascaras, eyeliners, and eyebrow pencils entitled Les Yeux Noirs fronted by up-and-coming Tunisian model Sonia Ben Ammar. Set to hit shelves next month, the luxurious new collection is not meant to be hidden away in your bathroom cabinet, it’s made to be on display just like his footwear.

The collection draws inspiration from Kathakali, a classical Indian dance where performers wearing extravagant makeup are known to express their mood through eye movements. The result? A richly pigmented Lash Amplifying Lacquer that coats the lashes in deep burgundy, smudge-proof Velvet Eye Definers that line the lids in deep teal and plum, and a long-wearing Brow Definer that comes in four different shades, which range from blonde to auburn, to fill in your arches. The pièce de résistance is the blood-red liquid eyeliner–the color of his legendary soles.

The Christian Louboutin Les Yeux Noirs collection will be available at www.christianlouboutin.com in March. The Lash Amplifying Lacquer retails at AED 335; The Luminous Ink Liner at AED 365; and The Velvet Eye Definer and Brow Definer at AED 190 each.
