Industry beauty maestros Sam McKnight and Tom Pecheux joined forces to dream up the feminine hair and makeup at today’s Chanel Spring 2017 Couture show. Karl Lagerfeld’s models and muses—including Kendall Jenner, Soo Joo Park, Bella Hadid, and Lily-Rose Depp (who closed the show in a pink, tiered dress, arm-in-arm with Lagerfeld)—walked down the mirrored runway at the Grand Palais with their hair coiled into reflective beehive updos that demanded as much attention as the collection’s feathered evening dresses.“[Karl Lagerfeld] asked me to keep the hair close to the head,” McKnight tells Vogue Arabia. “But rather than secure it into a chignon or a ponytail, I wound the hair around in a spiral, following the shape of the head.” To create the look, McKnight reached for a helping of mousse and pomade, before using a traditional hair-wrapping technique.

As for the makeup, dashes of holographic shimmer was applied along the outer eye corners on all the models, making a case for keeping the glitter pots at arm’s reach for the remainder of 2017. A dusting of russet bronzer across the hollows of the cheekbones added a warm glow to the model’s clean complexions. All that was needed to complete the look was a swipe of peachy-nude lipstick.
