With 24 million followers on Instagram, multiple Vogue covers under her belt (11 in a 12-month period), and international brands perpetually vying for her attention, Gigi Hadid is at the forefront of the millennial supermodel movement. No wonder then that Reebok signed her to represent the next phase of its #PerfectNever campaign; succeeding UFC fighter, Ronda Rousey (8.5 million followers).
The initiative is “an inspirational call to action that asks women around the world to celebrate the beauty of imperfection,” states the Boston-based athletic company. Reebok claims that its placement of Hadid as an ambassador goes beyond her IMG model portfolio, “[Gigi] is no stranger to the pressures of perfection placed on women, living under the constant scrutiny of a global audience of critics.” Considering Hadid’s background as a junior Olympic sporting hopeful, in competitive horseracing and volleyball, this partnership is certainly founded on mutuality.
2016 is set to close as year of milestones for the model, who collaborated with Tommy Hilfiger on a see-now-buy-now ready-to-wear collection. It appears that Hadid is most comfortable at the zeitgeist of the fashion world. Watch this space.
