Britain’s leading auction house, Christie’s, will host an auction in Dubai on October 29th at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel to re-launch its successful luxury watch sale. Previous timepiece auctions were held in the region between 2007 and 2011. The re-launch will introduce bidders to the finest watchmaking from the likes of Bulgari, Chopard, Cartier, Rolex, and Tag Heuer, amongst others. The auction will feature a total of 48 pieces, which have an estimated value ranging from USD$1,000 to USD$80,000 each.

Frédéric Watrelot, Christie’s watch specialist in Dubai, stated that there is a growing interest for luxury watch auctions in the Middle East: “The sale is a response to repeated requests from clients in the region for Christie’s to reinstate the successful watch auctions here in Dubai. Reflecting the taste of our Middle Eastern collectors, we have kept the sale small but perfectly formed, concentrating on leading brands at attractive prices.”

The auction will feature exclusive products, such as Cartier’s rare and limited edition of reversible wristwatches, crafted from stainless steel with an innovative feature named “tank basculante mechanique”, a mechanical movement with manual winding.

Moreover, the auction house has announced a first ever online-only sale of Middle Eastern Art to open for bidding from October 24th to November 11th, 2013, ahead of its upcoming auction of modern and contemporary Arab, Iranian, and Turkish Art, that will take place at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel on October 29th and 30th.

Since making its Middle Eastern debut in 2006, Christie’s has sold over USD$235 million worth of art, establishing itself as the leading auction house in the region.
