Glitter Eye Makeup Rocks the Saint Laurent Fall 2016 Show

1-glitter-eye-makeup-at-saint-laurent-hedi-slimane-fall-2016 French fashion house Saint Laurent made its American catwalk debut on February 10th with its Fall 2016 menswear show and the first installment of its women’s ready-to-wear collection at Los Angeles’ iconic Hollywood Palladium theater. Inspired by Hedi Slimane’s love of music, the fashion designer presented a collection teeming with luxe outerwear, with seating around every angle occupied by some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, including Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Courtney Love, and Jessica Alba.

But for all of the A-Listers in attendance, to us beauty mavens, the striking glitter eye makeup was the star of the show. Hedi Slimane’s models and muses—including Staz Lindes, Binx Walton, and Lida Fox—stepped out on the stage channeling the 1970’s glam rock era with sweeps of gold, green, blue, and red glitter on their eyelids that twinkled underneath the moving light installation suspended from the ceiling. The glitter extended into a dramatic cat-eye and coordinated with the models’ sparkling ensembles. The glinting feline eye was paired with a matte, pale complexion, and nude lips.

For those seeking to recreate the look, pick up a tube of M.A.C Cosmetics Mixing Medium Eyeliner (US $14; AED/SAR 51)—a translucent serum-like gel—and dab it onto your lids using your finger. Then, apply your glitter on top, or, dip a brush into the Mixing Medium, and then the glitter for a smooth application.
