“Coral is one of the most beautiful, complementary colors on any skin tone,” said Rachel Goodwin, the go-to makeup artist for Oscar nominee Emma Stone. “It got a bad rap for a really long time, but it does amazing things for your complexion and lights up your face.” Worn in tandem with a chartreuse Elie Saab gown, Stone sold us on the concept at the Academy Awards.
Inspired by a photo of a rose shot by Tim Walker, the pro filled in the star’s pout with Chanel’s Precision Lip Definer in Rouge, buffed the pencil off with a lip brush, and topped with Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in Tulip for a finish that was more full-on than “see-through.” Goodwin kept the rest of the maquillage fairly soft and simple, etching brown liner close to the lash line and dusting Chanel’s Powder Blush in Angelique across cheeks. The face painter’s top tips for replicating Stone’s look: Stay away from frosty formulas and reach for a tube with a reddish base as opposed to pink.
