She may not know it, but in Kuwait, You & I by Medina was one of the most played songs of 2009. The Danish singer shot to fame with the smash hit (Kung For Mig) when it was released the previous year. Today, Medina boasts six studio albums and a slew of chart-topping singles. Medina’s accolades include Danish Music Awards (such as Best Album of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Hit of the Year), and three MTV Europe Awards.

When she’s not on tour or headlining music festivals, the Addiction singer can be spotted at fashion shows (her boyfriend is Sebastian Lund, the striking Danish model of Dolce & Gabbana, Dsquared2, and Bottega Veneta). In addition to her successful music career and fashionable endeavors (the star is an ambassador for By Malene Birger), Medina is also known for her philanthropic missions. The singer is involved in a number of refugee projects in collaboration with DanChurchAid—a humanitarian organization that benefits impoverished countries around the world. Under a project called “Mevation” (Medina, motivation, and nation), the singer helps to raise awareness of the ongoing refugee crises in war-torn countries. The platform aids Medina on her mission to encourage young Danes to volunteer in charitable initiatives. Recent expeditions took the singer to the Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan (which is located just 10 kilometers from the Syrian border) and the Adjumani refugee camp in North-Western Uganda.

Born and raised in Aarhus, Denmark, Medina currently lives in Copenhagen, and to mark the start of Copenhagen Fashion Week Spring 2017, we caught up with the superstar singer to learn her favorite hot spots in the Danish capital. Whether you’re on your way to the anticipated shows or planning a trip to the bustling Scandinavian city, Medina’s list of must-visit places will have you covered.

BREAKFAST
Café 8tallet: Located next to one of Copenhagen’s biggest nature reserve parks Amager Fælled, this café is a must-see if you’re an architecture lover. It has won a lot of awards for its green concept. I visit the café regularly for its calm, quiet surroundings and powerful view. I always order two eggs (sunny side up), extra fried brunch sausages, mini croissants, and a cappuccino.

LUNCH
Geist: It’s my absolute favorite restaurant. I always sit at the same table right next to the garden door and order their sautéed spinach, avocado caviar, and turbot with fennel ravioli.

SHOPPING
Hellerup Strandvej: Copenhagen has a lot of exclusive vintage shops. Here, you’ll find wonderful hidden boutiques.
Rue Verte: One of my favorite interior stores that’s located in the city center. Near it, you’ll find a few good vintage shops, too.

DINNER
LouLou: I love having dinner at places that turn into lounges, and LouLou is perfect for this. It’s owned by my friend Bo Bech, who also owns Geist.

DANCING
Llama: If you want to go dancing, go to Llama. They have good Mexican food and they play the music loud.

STAYCATION
HOTEL NIMB: Located in Tivoli, Hotel Nimb is one of the most beautiful hotels in Copenhagen. I love going there for lunch because it’s private and quiet. The terrace is lovely in the summer. On Friday nights, you can watch live concerts with various artists performing in the Tivoli Gardens.
