“I call this advanced strobing,” said M.A.C. Senior Makeup Artist Michele Magnani, referring to the models’ glossy, slicked faces backstage at the Taller Marmo Resort 2017 Fashion Forward presentation. Unlike “chroming”, which calls for a metallic lipstick, Magnani opted for a thick layer of the M.A.C. Cosmetics Lipglass Clear (US $15; AED/SAR 55), and coated it across cheekbones, lips, and eye creases. Magnani explained that this look was inspired by classic Arabian makeup, but that she conveyed it in a “European” way.

Eyes were rimmed with a brown, smokey eye shadow and paired with several coats of mascara, while a swivel of vampy lipstick—the Retro Matte Liquid Lip Color in High Drama (US $20; AED/SAR 73) —added impact. The shimmery Lipglass Clear swiped on the high points of the cheeks and lids served to create a luminous, all-over glow, while simultaneously mirroring the models’ shining, wet manes.

To avoid looking like a real life disco ball, Magnani suggests using the fingertips to dab a small amount of the Lipglass Clear onto the high points of the face—including the cheekbones, Cupid’s bow, and center of the forehead—before dusting a matte, finishing powder over the T-zone for a subtle sheen.
